Adenauer stamp
GDR : Propaganda
"Adenauer stamps"
were produced by the GDR authorities with the purpose to be pasted over the 'Prisoners of war' stamps (Sc. Nr. 697) Because of the design, once could consider it a political provocation with an allusion to the political prisoners of the GDR and the USSR.
The order to hide this stamp through the thumbnail was nevertheless abolished the 12th of May in 1953. The remaining 'Adenauer stamps' were then used on the back of Government Mail; we deliver this stamp with a certification of authenticity together with Sc. Nr. 697 as well as a little documentation.
